Hike Algonquin trail to Poland Creek - Wildflowers and Waterfalls
We'll meet at I-17 and Carefree Hwy at the McDonalds at 8:30AM Saturday Mar 6, 2010 and carpool up to the Crown King exit off I-17. Then travel up towards Crown King on 20+ miles of dirt road. Park vehicles at the trailhead and hike down the Algonquin trail to Poland Creek which should have many pools, waterfalls and running water from the recent rain/snow that came to this mountain area. Along the road to the trail, we'll pass many fields of wildflowers.
Trail is 4.2 miles in and loses 1160 feet in elevation. You return the same route, climbing back up the 1160 feet. Trailhead elevation is 5500 feet, so it will be chilly for the start of the hike.
You'll need to register for this hike and come prepared with at least 70oz of water, snacks and lunch for the trail, light jacket/sweatshirt/poncho in case of breeze/rain, sturdy footwear and a camera!
Each person is requested to help with their driver's gas and pay $1 to the hike leader.
